In our latest Spotlight Interview, we spoke to Samar Shaheryar, Co-CEO at Spring. Samar talks about Spring’s journey so far, how their solution simplifies the buying and selling process and adapting to the ever evolving industry. ” Traditional property sales methods can leave homeowners facing uncertainty, frustration and lengthy timescales, during what is already a stressful major life event. Spring wanted to create a solution that offered a faster and guaranteed way to sell a property.

Q1 – What inspired the founding of Spring and what changes have you seen in the industry across the years?

Spring was born out of a desire to revolutionize the UK residential property market, having witnessed for too long the challenges faced by homeowners trying to sell. Traditional property sales methods can leave homeowners facing uncertainty, frustration and lengthy timescales, during what is already a stressful major life event. Spring wanted to create a solution that offered a faster and guaranteed way to sell a property.

Q2- Can you tell us how Spring simplifies the buying and selling process and what sets the solution apart from traditional property management companies?

Spring offers an end-to-end service where homeowners can sell their homes quickly, without the hassle of viewings, home improvements, or the uncertainty of offers falling through. By offering a guaranteed sale at a fair price, with a completion date to suit, Spring provides greater control and peace of mind during the home selling process. Spring takes care of everything, including the onward sale of the existing property.

Spring also works as a trusted B2B partner to the property industry, providing part-exchange services for a range of new-home developers and retirement providers, helping to unlock additional sales and improve the customer journey. We also work closely with estate agents offering bespoke chain repair solutions, where we can step in if a chain link breaks, ensuring all parties can complete their onward move without delay.

Q3- How does Spring integrate with partners specifically conveyancers to facilitate a smooth property transaction?

Spring uses advanced digital platforms to connect with its conveyancers, allowing for real-time updates and efficient communication throughout. This integration helps streamline the exchange of necessary documents and information, reducing delays and errors. Spring also provides dedicated support to conveyancers, offering assistance and resolving any issues that may arise during the transaction process.

Q4- How does Spring specifically support clients who are looking to downsize their homes and what impact has this had on homeowners?

There is wealth of data and anecdotal evidence showing that large family homes tend to sit on the market for longer compared to smaller homes.  Being at the top of the chain can mean that the sale is dependent on multiple other transactions below completing successfully. If any link in the chain fails, it can cause the entire chain to collapse.  This means that many people looking to downsize can feel trapped and frustrated by the process, particularly feeling the financial burden a larger property can carry, waiting many months or even years to sell and move on. Spring frees sellers of these pain points, allowing them to seamlessly downsize, or simply ‘rightsize’, into a property that suits their current lifestyle or circumstances.

From an industry perspective, we work closely with retirement developers to provide tailored part-exchange services, acquiring the properties of those who need to sell first before downsizing into their developments; this has undoubtedly been one of our biggest growth areas in recent years.

Q5- Looking ahead, as modern technologies like AI, virtual tours, and 3D modeling tools gain traction, does Spring plan to integrate any of these innovations, and how are you preparing to meet the evolving needs of today’s buyers?

We are 100% customer-led and never rest on our laurels, always looking to what comes next. We are starting to use AI in our training materials, and we also have our pioneering MOVESMART platform to create a Property Valuation Report for each property we present an offer on. In partnership with Propalt, this uses AI and pulls in data from multiple sources to value properties, looking at comparable properties on or off the market, properties sold, property fabric, local planning history, local amenities, location characteristics and more. No other tool gives such a holistic view.
