In our latest Spotlight Interview, we spoke to Kairit Pavelyn,CFO & Craig Pavelyn,CEO at KCP Network. They share how the company has grown from installing TVs and Wi-Fi for luxury hotels in 2008 to delivering Conqora, a modular platform powering smart guestrooms, offices, and residential spaces.
Craig and Kairit also discuss how Conqora helps asset managers cut energy use, meet carbon targets, and deliver seamless experiences through hybrid connectivity. “Connectivity is the foundation of everything we deliver, and the future is hybrid. Wi-Fi will remain essential, but 5G, satellite, and fibre are becoming part of the mix and our role is to bring them together seamlessly. A guest or resident doesn’t need to know what’s powering their connection – they just need it to work. Our approach is to integrate multiple technologies so whether you’re in central London or a remote island resort, the experience is the same: reliable, secure, and invisible in the best sense of the word. That’s how we edevnable smart environments anywhere in the world.”
Q1-KCP Network has been in operation for nearly two decades since its founding in 2008. Can you walk us through how the company and your solutions have evolved over the years?
“When we started in 2008, we were a small team installing TVs and building Wi-Fi for luxury hotels. Over time, our work grew into full-scale network projects across the UK and Europe. In 2016, we moved our global headquarters to Bracknell, opened a European hub in Estonia, and launched Conqora – the platform that would define our future.
The real turning point came during Covid. While the world went quiet, we went to work, using that two-year hibernation to expand Conqora into the suite it is today – powering smart bedrooms, meeting spaces, digital signage, and advanced energy management. That period shaped who we are now.
Nearly two decades on, we’ve grown into a trusted global partner, but our values haven’t changed: technology that works for real people, delivered with personal care and sustainability at the heart.”
Q2-For real estate portfolios with mixed-use assets, how flexible is your platform in adapting across hotels, offices, and residential?
“Flexibility is at the core of Conqora. It was designed as a modular system, meaning you can start small, like energy monitoring in hotel rooms — and expand across offices or residential spaces without disruption.
We’ve proven it across mixed-use developments where the same platform can manage a hotel’s guestroom automation, an office’s meeting spaces, and a residential building’s access and energy. It integrates rather than complicates. For investors and operators managing diverse portfolios, that adaptability is a game-changer. It ensures a consistent experience while still respecting the unique needs of each property type.”
Q3- How do your smart energy solutions help real estate companies meet carbon reduction and reporting requirements?
“Sustainability runs through every solution we create – it’s not an add-on, it’s a core principle. Conqora optimises energy use with occupancy-driven controls, automates shutdowns when spaces are empty, and gives real-time insights into consumption.
The reporting side is equally powerful. Owners can monitor energy use room by room, floor by floor, or across an entire property, generating the data they need to demonstrate compliance with carbon reduction targets. In one hotel in Poland case study, we helped reduce energy consumption by nearly 40% without compromising comfort. That’s measurable, auditable proof that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand and increasingly, that’s exactly what regulators and guests are demanding.”
Q4- As connectivity evolves with the arrival of 5G, hybrid networks, and satellite communications, how will KCP leverage these technologies to enhance reliability and seamless smart functionality in both urban and remote property environments?
“Connectivity is the foundation of everything we deliver, and the future is hybrid. Wi-Fi will remain essential, but 5G, satellite, and fibre are becoming part of the mix and our role is to bring them together seamlessly.
A guest or resident doesn’t need to know what’s powering their connection – they just need it to work. Our approach is to integrate multiple technologies so whether you’re in central London or a remote island resort, the experience is the same: reliable, secure, and invisible in the best sense of the word. That’s how we envision smart environments anywhere in the world.”
Q5- Looking back on KCP’s journey so far, what would you consider the company’s most significant achievement, and as CEO, which moment stands out as your proudest?
“For me, the proudest achievement isn’t just one project or one milestone. It’s the fact that we’ve built a company that has stayed true to its values while growing on a global scale. From starting out installing TVs and networks in hotels, to now working with some of the world’s leading hospitality brands across 70 countries, that journey itself feels like an achievement.
If I had to choose one defining moment, it would be the period during Covid. The industry around us was at a standstill, but instead of retreating, our team poured their energy into developing Conqora into the suite it is today. That resilience, creativity, and sheer determination is what shaped the company we are now. As CEO, the proudest thing for me is not a contract signed or an office opened – it’s watching our people, many of whom have been with us for over a decade, grow with the company and prove that with the right team spirit, even the hardest challenges can become turning points.
And of course, all of this translates directly into what matters most, providing the best service to our customers. The innovations we pushed through during Covid now help our partners save on energy costs and ensure their guests enjoy the best possible experience. For me, that’s the most rewarding part: seeing our clients succeed and knowing that our team’s resilience creates a win-win for everyone”
